Shands 3T MRI Replacement
Provide additional reinforcement to support increased load of new MRI equipment.
Work Scope: Drill five feet vertically through the existing concrete slab and beam at 14 precise locations to allow installation of additional rebar. New #5 rebar was encased in injection epoxy and bent and tied to existing rebar. The concrete was patched to match the existing beam profile.
Slab reinforcement was reestablished using FRP (fiberglass) rebar to eliminate interfering with the magnetic field of the MRI equipment.
